Homemade Latte | Lonumedhu

Homemade Latte

The biggest issue people face when they order a cup of coffee is, that it is either too sugary or watery. That’s why you should give making homemade latte a try, where you can adjust the flavours as you prefer. Here’s a recipe just for that!

For our latte, we have used the Boncafé Colombiana Instant Coffee, provided to us by one of our partners, Boncafé. It has a rich, earthy, nutty taste to it and very well balanced. When brewed, it has a strong, fragrant coffee aroma, which makes drinking the coffee an even better experience!

Serving size: 1

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp Boncafé Colombiana Instant Coffee
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • ½ cup full cream milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla essence
  • ¼ cup full cream milk (for making the foamed milk)

Instructions:

  1. Crush up 2 tbsp of Boncafé Colombiana Instant Coffee using a spoon, until it becomes a fine powder. Then, set it aside.
  2. Next, add in ½ cup water to a small pot and boil for 30 seconds on medium heat.
  3. Add in the crushed coffee to the boiling water and stir using a spatula.
  4. Then, add 1 tbsp sugar and stir again until well combined.
  5. Pour the coffee into a glass (we have used a glass of 3.5-inches in length, 3.5-inch width). Keep aside.
  6. Into a separate pot, pour the ½ cup milk. Cook for 3 minutes on medium heat, until the milk starts to boil (the milk will bubble and rise higher in the pot when this happens).
  7. Then, add in ½ tsp of vanilla essence and stir to mix it into the milk. Remove from heat.
  8. Add in the cooked milk to the glass of coffee and mix using a handheld milk frother, just until the coffee is well blended with the milk. This will not take longer than 10 seconds.
  9. Next, make the foamed milk which goes on top of the latte. In a pot, cook the other ¼ cup milk for 2 minutes on medium heat, until it boils.
  10. Add this milk to a separate glass. Then, using the handheld frother, mix until the milk turns to foam. This will take around 1 minute.
  11. Using a spoon, place the foamed milk on top of the latte prepared earlier. You can use the bottom of a spoon to make the foam layer smoother and more even.
