Sloppy Joe

 

Sloppy Joes are a classic comfort food - saucy, savoury, and full of flavour. They’re quick to make and perfect for when you want something hearty and satisfying. Enjoy them for lunch, dinner, or even as a snack.

For our recipe, we have used Sparta Ground Beef, provided to us by one of our partners, United Food Suppliers. This ground beef is fresh and tender, making it perfect for burgers, meatballs, or any other quick beef dishes.

Serving size: 1

 

Ingredients:

  • 100g Sparta Ground Beef
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp finely diced onion
  • 2 tbsp finely diced red bell pepper
  • ¼ cup tomato ketchup
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp chilli flakes
  • 1/8 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/8 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1 bun

 

 

Instructions:

  1. Firstly, defrost the 100g Sparta Ground Beef.
  2. In a pan, melt 1 tbsp unsalted butter for 1 minute on low heat. Then turn to high heat and add the defrosted ground beef. Stir using a spatula for 1 minute or until the beef changes colour.
  3. Mix in 2 tbsp finely diced onion, 2 tbsp finely diced red bell pepper and stir for 1 minute.
  4. Add in ¼ cup tomato ketchup, 1 tsp brown sugar, 1 tsp chilli flakes, 1/8 tsp garlic powder, 1/8 tsp ground black pepper and 1/8 tsp salt and mix well for 2 minutes. Transfer to a bowl and set aside.
  5. Then, split a bun in half using a knife. Stuff it with a generous amount of the beef mixture on the bottom. Put the top bun on and serve with a side of crisps.
