Quick Beef Stir Fry

 

This is a quick and easy stir-fry that’s perfect for lunch or dinner. It pairs especially well with a side of rice.

For our recipe, we have used Sparta Beef Strips provided to us by one of our partners, United Food Suppliers. These beef strips are already cut into thin, even pieces, making them especially convenient for stir-frying. They cook quickly while staying tender and juicy, allowing the flavours of the sauce and aromatics to coat the beef beautifully.

Serves: 2-3

 

Ingredients:

For the beef

  • 250g Sparta Beef Strips (cut into 1-to-2-inch strips)
  • 1 tbsp cornflour
  • 2 tsp light soy sauce
  • 1 tsp dark soy sauce
  • ½ tsp brown sugar
  • ¼ tsp sesame oil
  • ¼ tsp ground black pepper
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • 1 ½ tbsp oil

 

For the stir fry sauce

  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • ½ tbsp light soy sauce
  • ½ tsp minced ginger
  • ½ tsp minced garlic
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp chilli flakes

 

For the stir fry

  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 2 green chillies largely chopped
  • 2 spring onions thinly sliced (white part)
  • ½ cup largely cut broccoli (2-inch pieces)
  • ¼ cup red bell pepper (cut to 1-inch pieces)
  • ¼ cup carrot strips (cut into 1–2-inch pieces)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 spring onion greens (cut into 2-inch pieces)

 

Instructions:

  1. Into a large bowl, add 250g Sparta Beef Strips (cut into 1-to-2-inch strips), 1 tbsp cornflour, 2 tsp light soy sauce, 1 tsp dark soy sauce, ½ tsp brown sugar, ¼ tsp sesame oil, ¼ tsp ground black pepper, and ¼ tsp baking soda. Mix well with a spoon and set aside.
  2. For the stir-fry sauce, mix together 1 tbsp dark soy sauce, 1 tbsp oyster sauce, ½ tbsp light soy sauce, ½ tsp minced ginger, ½ tsp minced garlic, ¼ tsp salt and ¼ tsp chilli flakes in a small bowl and set aside.
  3. Add 1 ½ tbsp oil into a large pan, heat for 30 seconds on high heat and then add the coated beef strips, stir-fry for 3 to 4 minutes, until it is lightly browned. Make sure to stir frequently using a spatula. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
  4. Into the same pan, add 1 more tbsp oil and add 2 green chillies (largely chopped) and 2 thinly sliced spring onion (white parts). Sauté for a minute on medium-high heat.
  5. Then add ½ cup largely cut broccoli (2-inch pieces), ¼ cup red bell pepper (cut to 1-inch pieces), ¼ cup carrot strips (1–2-inch pieces), and ½ tsp salt. Stir-fry for 2 to 3 minutes or until the vegetables are softened.
  6. Now add the cooked beef along with the prepared stir-fry sauce and stir-fry for 2 minutes until sauce thickens. Lastly, remove from heat and add 2 spring onion greens (cut into 2-inch pieces) and mix well. Beef stir-fry is now ready to serve. The sauce will thicken further after removing from heat.
