Munchee Chocolate Puff Milkshake

 

Chocolate cream biscuits have been a favourite teatime biscuit among us Maldivians for a long time. Here, we have a recipe on how you can prepare a nice, chocolatey milkshake using these types of biscuits.

For our recipe, we have used CBL Munchee Chocolate Puff biscuits, provided to us by one of our partners, Pyramid. These chocolate cream filled, sugar coated, crunchy biscuits taste so good by themselves or even dunked in milk. The CBL Munchee Chocolate Puffs are a great go-to snack for tea-times and for picnics as well.

Ingredients:

For the chocolate syrup

  • 1/3 cup full cream milk
  • 60g largely chopped dark cooking chocolate
  • 2 tbsp sugar

 

For the milkshake

  • 12 CBL Munchee Chocolate Puff biscuits
  • 2 cups full cream milk
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 160g chocolate ice-cream

 

For the topping

  •  2 scoops of chocolate ice-cream
  • 2 tsp crushed CBL Munchee Chocolate Puff biscuits

 

Instructions:

  1. To make the chocolate syrup, add 1/3 cup full cream milk, 60g dark cooking chocolate and 2 tbsp sugar to a pot. Stir the mixture on high heat for 6 minutes until it becomes a thick, chocolate-coloured syrup (it will be thick enough to coat the back of the spoon, but also have a slow drip when you lift the spoon).
  2. Cool down the chocolate syrup for 10 minutes and add to a piping bag. Set aside.
  3. Next, break 12 CBL Munchee Chocolate Puff biscuits into halves and add to a blender, along with 2 cups full cream milk, and 1 tbsp sugar. Blend it together at high speed for about 20 seconds, until it becomes completely smooth.
  4. Then, add in 160g chocolate ice-cream and blend for 1 minute at high speed. Keep the mixture in the refrigerator for around 30 minutes to chill.
  5. Using the piping bag you prepared earlier, drizzle the chocolate syrup on the sides and bottom of 2 drinking glasses (we used 6-inch-tall milkshake glasses for this).
  6. Pour in the milkshake mixture evenly between the two glasses. Next, add 1 scoop of chocolate ice-cream on top of each glass and sprinkle the 1 tsp crushed CBL Munchee Chocolate Puff biscuits on top of each ice cream scoop.
  7. Lastly, drizzle some more chocolate syrup on top and serve!
