Juice Petty

 

Juice Petty is a childhood favourite that’s still quite refreshing on blazing hot days. Below we’ve got the recipes for three flavours of Juice Petty: rose, banana and vanilla.

You can of course make them in any flavours or colours you want, and the really important thing when making them is tasting and adjusting the mixture until you are sure you like it before adding them to the bags and putting them in the freezer.

And while on the topic of bags, yes Juice Petty is usually made in those plastic bags with the red strings we call “Juice Petty Kothalhu.” But perhaps we can make lollies from the mixtures instead so that it has less of an impact on the environment. To make lollies you can either use lolly moulds or even ice cube trays and toothpicks.

 

Rose Juice Petty

Makes: 1

Ingredients:

  • 4 tbsp. rose syrup
  • ¼ cup condensed milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 Juice Petty Kothalhu

 

Vanilla Juice Petty

Makes: 1

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 tsp. vanilla essence
  • ¼ cup condensed milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 2-3 drops green food colouring
  • 1 Juice Petty Kothalhu

 

Banana Juice Petty

Makes: 1

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 tsp. banana essence
  • ¼ cup condensed milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tsp. sugar (optional)
  • 2-3 drops yellow food colouring
  • 1 Juice Petty Kothalhu

 

Instructions:

  1. Combine all the ingredients well. Taste the mixture, and make any final adjustments you want.
  2. Add to ‘Juice Petty Kothalhu’, tie securely, and freeze.
