Honey Glazed Salmon | Lonumedhu

Honey Glazed Salmon

This is how you can make a juicy, flaky salmon fillet – cooked in a slightly sweet, umami and tangy honey glaze. To make it a whole meal, we have also included a side of garlicky stir-fried broccoli.

For a good salmon dish, you need high quality, fresh salmon. That is why for this recipe, we have used Blackgold Salmon Fillet, provided to us by one of our partners, Blackgold Foods. It is freshly packed and when cooked, very tender and succulent.

Serving size: 1

Ingredients:

For the salmon

  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 ½ tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 ½ tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp chilli flakes
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 185-200g Blackgold Salmon Fillet
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 thin slices of lemon
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh dill

For the stir-fried broccoli

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 finely chopped garlic cloves
  • 125g largely chopped broccoli florets
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp ground black pepper
  • ¼ tsp cumin powder
  • ¼ tsp paprika

Instructions:

  1. First, prepare the honey glaze by adding 2 tbsp honey, 1/3 cup soy sauce, 1 tbsp lemon juice, and 1 tsp chilli flakes to a small bowl. Mix until the honey is fully mixed with the soy sauce. Set aside.
  2. Then, to another bowl, add ¼ tsp salt, ½ tsp ground black pepper, ½ tsp paprika, and ½ tsp garlic powder to a small bowl and mix well. This is the seasoning for the salmon.
  3. Defrost the Blackgold Salmon Fillet and rinse it. Remove the excess water off the salmon fillet by patting it with a paper napkin.
  4. Rub the seasoning mix on top of the salmon, making sure to coat both sides well.
  5. Next, add 1 tbsp olive oil to a pan and heat it up at medium-low heat for 30 seconds.
  6. Place the salmon, skin side down, and sear for around 4 minutes or until the skin is browned and lightly crispy.
  7. Then, flip the salmon and sear the bottom side for another 4 minutes or until lightly brown and fully cooked through. The salmon will still have a light orange-pink colour on the inside when cooked; it will still be moist and juicy, but it shouldn’t be raw.
  8. Remove the salmon from the pan. Then, to the same pan, add in the honey glaze sauce that was prepared earlier, along with 3 thin lemon slices and 1 tbsp chopped fresh dill.
  9. Let the sauce simmer for 1 minute, then place the salmon back in the pan, skin-side down. Cook the salmon for another 2 minutes and remove from heat. When cooking, using your spatula or spoon, baste the salmon with the honey glaze sauce; to do this, gently tilt the pan to one side and with a large spoon or spatula, pour the sauce over the salmon.
  10. Next, prepare the stir-fried broccoli. To a new pan, add 1 tbsp olive oil and heat it up. Then, add in 2 finely chopped garlic cloves and sauté for around 1 minute on low heat.
  11. Once the garlic is lightly browned, add 1/8 tsp salt, ¼ tsp ground black pepper, ¼ tsp paprika, and ¼ tsp cumin powder. Mix well together.
  12. Lastly, add in the 125g largely chopped broccoli florets and mix well to coat with the seasoning. Stir-fry the broccoli for around 8-9 minutes or until it becomes soft and lightly browned.
  13. Remove the broccoli from the pan and serve with the salmon. You can add the extra honey glaze in the pan and lemon slices over the salmon when serving.
