Faaroshi Boakibaa | Lonumedhu

Faaroshi Boakibaa

Very similar to paan boakibaa, this is a sweet and simple boakibaa that is soft, creamy and full of comforting flavours. It is a lovely treat for tea time or whenever you are craving something sweet.

For our recipe, we have used TRDP Mario Milk Rusk provided to us by one of our partners, Pyramid. These crispy milk rusks have a light, sweet flavour and can be enjoyed on their own or used in a variety of desserts and sweet recipes.

Serving Size: 4-5 people

Ingredients:

  • 24 TRDP Mario Milk Rusk biscuits (1 ½ cup when crushed)
  • 2 eggs
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ cup condensed milk
  • ½ cup full cream milk
  • 1 tbsp milk powder
  • ½ tsp vanilla essence
  • 1 cup hot water

Instructions:

  1. Break 24 TRDP Mario Milk Rusk biscuits (1 ½ cup when crushed) into 3 to 4 smaller pieces. Add them to a medium-sized blender and pulse until they become fine crumbs. We blended ours in two batches for around 30 seconds each. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, add 2 eggs and ¼ cup sugar. Whisk using a whisk until the sugar is mostly dissolved and the mixture is well combined.
  3. Add ½ cup condensed milk, ½ cup full cream milk, 1 tbsp milk powder and ½ tsp vanilla essence to the same bowl. Mix well using a whisk until combined.
  4. Slowly pour in 1 cup hot water, stirring continuously as you add it. Then add the 1 ½ cup crushed TRDP Mario Milk Rusk and mix thoroughly until everything is well combined.
  5. Let the mixture sit for 10 to 15 minutes so the crushed rusk can absorb the liquid. If the mixture still feels too liquid, let it sit for a little longer.
  6. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius for 10 minutes.
  7. Pour the mixture into a greased 7.5-inch round baking tray, then lined with baking paper. Bake at 180 degrees Celsius for around 45 minutes or until the top is lightly browned and the centre is set.
  8. Let it cool before cutting in and serving.
