Biscoff French Toast Roll-Ups | Lonumedhu

Biscoff French Toast Roll-Ups

These French toast roll-ups definitely have one of the best dessert flavour combinations; sugar, cinnamon, butter and Biscoff! This is especially great because the caramelly flavour of the Biscoff goes really well with the French toast.

For our recipe, we have used the Lotus Biscoff Smooth spread provided to us by one of our partners, Blackgold Foods. This spread is made with the original crushed Biscoff biscuits and have a rich caramel flavour to them. The ingredients used are all from natural origins, with no added flavours and colours. It is also suitable for vegan diets.

Serving size: 6

Ingredients:

  • 6 slices of white bread
  • 3 tbsp Lotus Biscoff Smooth spread (½ tbsp for each slice of bread)
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup full cream milk
  • 1/3 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1 tbsp butter

Instructions:

  1. First, trim the edges of all the 6 bread slices. Then, using a rolling pin, roll each slice of bread until they are evenly flattened.
  2. After that, spread around ½ tbsp of the Lotus Biscoff Smooth spread on each slice of bread – a total of 3 tbsp. Make sure you don’t spread it all the way; leave around half a centimetre gap near the edges, as the spread may melt and leak out when you cook them later.
  3. Then, tightly roll up each slice.
  4. Next, add in 1 egg, ¼ cup full cream milk, and 1/3 tsp salt to a bowl and whisk well together. Set aside.
  5. In a new bowl, mix together the 3 tbsp sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon powder, until it is evenly combined. Set it aside as well.
  6. Dip each roll into the egg mixture, making sure it is well coated all around. Then, place them on a plate.
  7. Heat up a pan and melt 1 tbsp butter on medium heat. Place the rolls in the pan and cook them for 2 minutes. Keep flipping the rolls while doing so, to make sure that all the sides are evenly cooked. When cooked all the way, the rolls should be golden brown and slightly crispy on all the sides.
  8. Remove the French toast roll-ups from the pan and place them in the cinnamon-sugar mix. Roll them in the mixture, until all the sides are well coated. To serve, you can top the roll-ups with more Biscoff spread.
