Over the weekend, Male’ saw a sweet new trend take center stage, it’s very first Cake Picnic “Cake Keyn”. The event was inspired by the cake picnics happening in other countries, where people bring their homemade cakes to a gathering and enjoy them with others.
“Cake Keyn” gained a lot of attention and hype on social media as soon as it was announced. They had a few rules such as the obvious, no cake, no entry, no store-bought cakes and the cakes must be minimum 7 inches and can be any shape or size bigger than that. Once they opened for registrations online, it was full in less than an hour!
Held on July 4th, about 50 participants joined in with their own cakes, from chocolate to fruity flavors, and it turned into a happy evening filled with sweet treats and friendly faces.
One of the organizers mentioned that as someone who is passionate about cake, seeing all the cakes in one place was a dream come true. There was no repetition of flavor, every cake had their unique flavor profiles and were beautifully decorated. They also said that it wasn’t necessarily an event for bakers, but just one for likeminded people with love for cakes. They hope to come back bigger and better again with more space hopefully.
