Embracing the spirit of Ramadan, restaurants and civil society organisations have been donating meals to the needy.

 

The Space Mv and MMWM - 30 Days of Kindness

The Space Mv partnered with the Mission for Migrant Workers Maldives (MMWM) to deliver Iftar meal packs for expatriates in need. To support the endeavour, the restaurant will be collecting donations until the end of Ramadan.

MMWM is the first NGO registered in the country to advocate for the rights of migrant workers.

The joint initiative started with a target of 50 meal packs per day, but The Space was able to increase their meal packs to 100 by the 6th day of Ramadan due to overwhelming support from the community.

A meal pack is priced at MVR50. Your donations will help continue their humanitarian mission.

JCI Maldives  - 1142 Ekugai Care Package

JCI Maldives is providing care packages with essential goods worth MVR250 to those in need.

You can help them reach out to people in need by scanning the QR code and filling the form for someone who needs help.

Last year, the organisation collected MVR 40,600 in donations and provided Iftar meal packs to 550 people in need.

Junior Chamber International is a global, non-profit organisation for young people to develop leadership skills, meet inspiring people and make a real impact in local communities. JCI Maldives is the National Organisation for the country.

 

International Aid Campaign (IAC) - With Love 2021

IAC Maldives is accepting donations to provide food and other essentials to families in need.

The package or their ‘With Love 2021’ campaign is priced at MVR 1,125, although lower amounts are accepted.

MOMS Care Basket

MOMS NGO is accepting donations to sponsor a Care Basket for struggling families under their care. The Care Basket includes basic food items that will be useful during Ramadan.

EmmenKaigen Movement

EmmenKaigen aims to get the extra food in your kitchen after Iftar to provide Suhoor for someone who can’t afford it. Instead of throwing it away, you can drop off any leftovers to their food collection points in disposable packaging.

Mamak’s Minimalist Iftar Pack

You can gift or donate Mamak’s minimalist Iftar pack to someone in need. Call 982 3666 for reservations.

 

Soul Food by Himoo

Local online business Soul food by Himoo is providing Iftar and other necessities to a needy family every Friday during Ramadan.

AvasFood’s Roadha Fund

Local food delivery App Avas Food started a Ramadan fund on 13th April to help feed those in need. To participate, the online community was asked to share AvasFood’s post on their social media accounts. For each share, AvasFood donated MVR 3 to the fund.

The target of 30,000 shares was reached within a few hours. The fund was closed with the pledge to donate 90,273 to the Roadha Fund. According to AvasFood, the fund will be used to donate Iftar meals to mosques and people in need.
