Bakes by Fira celebrates 10 years of desserts

Local dessert brand ‘Bakes by Fira’ has turned 10 years!

Owned and run by Aishath Firasha – Fira – the business is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a special collaboration giveaway featuring several local businesses.

To mark the milestone, Fira has partnered with H78, Flo Studio, Ogaa, Island Bazaar, Island Apothecary, Craft Studio, Kasabu by Hidha, Maamelaameli and Toddy for a series of special giveaways on Instagram.

“All these partners are very close to my heart, and they have been a huge part of my journey over the last 10 years,” said Fira.

The giveaway will run from 1 to 10 February 2026.Ten lucky winners will receive gift vouchers and hampers from the giveaway partners, in addition to custom dessert boxes of Fira’s signature kanamadhu-based desserts.

‘Bakes by Fira’ first burst into the culinary scene in 2016 with her signature kanamadhu cake. Since then, Fira has expanded her offerings to include a wide range of original kanamadhu creations, such as toffee, blondies, babka, pretzels, brownie cake, caramel cookies, gluten-free chocolate tart and even kashikeyo (screwpine) crepe rolls with kanamadhu filling.

Additionally, Fira has introduced her own cakes, including her Toblerone cake – which was recognised by Toblerone UK on their website in 2021 – Ferrero chocolate cake, Lindt chocolate and her own decorated cakes with free-hand, buttercream pointillism artwork.

Reflecting on the past decade, Fira highlighted the continuous support from her customers and loved ones, and their role in the growth of the business. “I’m so grateful to my friends and family who have been by my side, supporting me throughout these 10 years. But the most special of all are my customers; I still have a lot of the same customers from back when I started in 2016. I think it’s a testament to the consistent quality and taste that I have tried to maintain in all my products throughout the years.”

As part of the anniversary celebrations, Fira will also be introducing three new products this month – all kanamadhu-based. “I want to cover a wide range of desserts with my signature ingredient, kanamadhu, and see how far I can go with that,” she said, noting her interest in fusing Maldivian flavours and developing gluten-free, slightly healthier dessert options.

“I also want really take my time and evolve ‘Bakes by Fira’ through meaningful, intentional steps. It’s a learning process for me as well, and I’m excited to see what the future holds,” Fira added.
