We’ve always heard good things about the Thyme burgers, especially their signature fried chicken burgers. So for this week’s article, we decided to give the Thyme Korean Fried Chicken Burger a try!
Thyme’s Korean Fried Chicken Burger has been around for some time, although this is the first time that we’ve tried it. The most distinct thing about the burger is its black charcoal bun, different from the usual burger buns you see in the Maldives. The taste though, wasn’t much different, although we did notice that it was slightly less sweet than the usual brioche burger buns.
Readers, full disclosure. This is a messy burger. Like all Thyme burgers, it came with a big (and I mean BIG) piece of fried chicken. In this case, the chicken was doused in a slightly spicy, sweet, and tangy dark sauce which added an umami-like, Asian twist to the burger.
The burger was assembled well, coming with house mayo, tomato and onion, lettuce, melted cheddar cheese. The French fries came with a Korean style mayo dipping sauce – also good as a dipper for the burger! Unfortunately, we did not get to taste the caramelised onion and tomato salsa mentioned in the menu – although we feel those would have rounded out the burger quite nicely.
Thyme also has other fried chicken burgers on their menu with unusual flavours of sauces. The burgers with “Flamin’ Hot Kandoodhoo” sauce (this one has a red bun!) and Peri-Peri sauce all seem very interesting, and definitely worth checking out!
