Pinterest Food Trends for 2022

As the new year starts again, we’re back with Pinterest’s food trends for the year. Here’s what they predict will be big in the food scene in 2022!

“Cuppa time”

Afternoon tea is in! And it’s not merely a meal anymore, “a moment, an aesthetic, a pose.” According to Pinterest, “high tea food idea,” “vintage tea party” and “tea party aesthetic” have been trending search terms by people across all age groups. Another interesting search is “butterfly pea tea,” a tea brew that changes colour from blue to red or purple with the addition of lemon juice.

“Ancestral eats”

Traditional foods are expected to make a comeback this year. As per Pinterest, people are going to leave behind over-the-top, experimental dishes and revert back to traditional dishes from across the globe – “somebody’s grandparent’s recipe” is how the website has described it! The most searched eats (in this category) on Pinterest include “Arabic food traditional,” “Norwegian recipes traditional” and “Filipino recipes authentic.”

“Batter up”

On the other hand, 2022 is the year for elaborate cakes. Searches for “gravity-defying cake ideas,” “art cake ideas” and “3D cake ideas” have been at an all-time high. In 2022, we’re leaving behind cupcakes and cake pops for work-of-art cakes!
