Wakefield’s Delectable Cakes

Looking for a cake for a celebration? Then, we’ve got just the place for you!

The recently opened Instagram food business, Wakefield has a range of celebration cakes and desserts, perfect for when you want something delectable and luxurious.

Their offerings include chocolate cake, carrot cake, Basque cheesecake, lemon cake and opera cake, all available for pre-order in advance.

We’ve now had the pleasure of trying out their chocolate cake and Basque cheesecake, and they really do hit the spot!

The chocolate cake was tiered and covered in a velvety layer of ganache for the ultimate chocolate moment. The cake itself was spongy and light while the ganache was rich and creamy with a deep chocolate flavour to it. We loved how they weren’t stingy with the ganache at all – it was generously spread on the outside of the cake as well as in between the layers, giving a smooth decadence to every bite!

The Basque cheesecake was simply a lesson in indulgence. Our general feeling with this cake is that it’s better to just dig into it with a spoon and make your way from the soft, sliceable side to the creamy centre!

The top of the cheesecake was just lightly burnt to add an extra layer of caramelised flavour, while the inside was smooth, custardy, and oh-so rich. It tasted a bit vanilla-y and sweet (but not too much), without losing the slight tanginess of the cream cheese itself, which we really appreciated.

Other than whole cakes, Wakefield also offers pastel de nata (Portuguese egg custard tart), tiramisu and banoffee – perfect for when you want something sweet, but don’t want to order a whole cake by yourself!

Overall, we loved the cakes that we’ve had for them and can’t wait to try more of their offerings. We really recommend that you check them out and see the hype for yourself too!
