Molten Cookie Trays by The Dessert Place

If you’re looking for a new type of dessert for gatherings or even just to snack on, look no further than the molten cookie trays by The Dessert Place on Instagram.

For those who might be a bit unfamiliar, molten cookie trays, as the name suggests, are giant cookies baked in deep trays until they’re crispy on top, gooey in the centre and utterly scoopable. Think of it like a pudding but made with cookie dough!

The cookie trays by The Dessert Place come in two sizes and three flavours. The 4-inch small trays work great for when you just want to satisfy a sweet craving and the 8-inch celebration trays are perfect for parties and gatherings. Their three flavours are s’mores, triple affair and Oreo crumble. And as a bonus, each tray comes with vanilla ice-cream to pour on top!

We went with two 4-inch trays – s’mores and Oreo crumble – which came with their very own scoops of vanilla ice-cream. The Dessert Place also sent us re-heating instructions (in case we weren’t having it straight away) which was super helpful.

Now, onto the tasting.

The s’mores cookie tray was bursting with toasted marshmallows and Belgian milk chocolate for that unmistakable combination of gooey, chocolatey flavours. In between the layers, their signature cookie dough was deliciously fudgy and caramelly while the marshmallows added a light, fluffy texture, giving a warm, toasty bite.

The Oreo crumble was layered with Belgian milk chocolate chips and Oreo cookies for a sweet, slightly crunchy yet melt-in-the-mouth affair. The dark cocoa and vanilla flavours of the Oreos paired perfectly with the caramelised cookies and chocolate, giving a delightful bite that had us going back in with our spoons again and again.

For both the trays, the coldness of the vanilla ice-cream was an excellent accompaniment to the hot, fudgy cookies – and to make sure you don’t burn your tongue on that first bite!
