Mashed Potatoes

 

Mashed potatoes are a classic comfort dish that’s soft, creamy and easy to make. They’re perfect as a side for many meals and can be enjoyed by both kids and adults.

For our recipe, we have used President French Butter - Unsalted provided to us by one of our partners, Standard & Origin (S&O). This butter has a rich and creamy taste making it suitable for spreading, baking and cooking.

Ingredients:

  • 200g large potatoes
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 garlic clove (cut in half)
  • 1 tbsp softened President French Butter - Unsalted
  • 1 tsp warm full cream milk
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp ground black pepper

 

Instructions:

  1. Firstly, peel and cut 200g potatoes into ½ inch pieces.
  2. Boil 2 cups water in a small pot on high heat. Let it heat up for 4 to 5 minutes or until the water is bubbling and add the potato pieces and 1 garlic clove (cut in half) into the boiling water. Boil the potatoes for 8 minutes or until the potatoes are fully softened (when you stick a fork into the potato, it should go right through in without much force).
  3. Once the potatoes are fully cooked through, drain the water by transferring them into a large strainer.
  4. Wash and clean the pot dry or use another bowl and keep the strainer on top. Push the soft potatoes down the strainer using the back of a spoon and then scrape the stuff stuck on the bottom of the strainer, into the pot or bowl. Transfer the mash into a medium sized bowl.
  5. Add 1 tbsp softened President French Butter - Unsalted and mix using a spoon until the butter completely melts.
  6. Add 1 tsp warm milk, mix again. Add ¼ tsp salt and 1/8 tsp ground black pepper, mix until smooth and well incorporated.
