Baked Jalapeno Poppers

 

These cheese-filled, creamy jalapeno poppers are so good to have as a snack. They are not too spicy, and since we are baking it, it’s quite simple to prepare as well.

For our recipe, we have used the Lactima Cheese with Jalapeno, provided to us by one of our partners, United Food Suppliers. These have a nice tangy jalapeno flavour to it, and pairs so well in our jalapeno poppers. You can also use this for grilled cheese toasts, sandwiches, and burgers.

 

Serving size: 12 jalapeno poppers

 

Ingredients:

  • 6 jalapeno peppers
  • 1/3 cup cream cheese
  • 3 Lactima Cheese with Jalapeno slices
  • 1 tbsp chopped spring onion greens
  • ¼ tsp dried mixed herbs
  • 1/8 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp bread crumbs
  • 1 tsp finely chopped spring onion greens (for topping)

 

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven at 190 degrees Celsius for 10 minutes. Line a baking tray (we used an 11.5 inch by 9.9-inch tray) with baking paper and set aside.
  2. Then, slice 6 jalapeno peppers length wise from the middle and scoop out the seeds using a small spoon. You will not be using the seeds in this recipe. Also, be careful not to touch your face/eyes while doing this.
  3. After that, cut 3 slices of Lactima Cheese with Jalapeno to around 1 cm small pieces.
  4. To a small bowl, add in 1/3 cup cream cheese, the cut cheese slices, 1 tbsp chopped spring onion greens, ¼ tsp dried mixed herbs, and 1/8 tsp garlic powder. Mix well using a spoon.
  5. Now stuff each pepper half with the cheese filling until full. This amount will depend on the size of the pepper, but generally it’s around 2-3 teaspoons. Then smooth out the top, and sprinkle each with bread crumbs.
  6. Place them on the baking tray, leaving space in between each, and bake for 15 minutes, until the top is lightly golden and the peppers are softened. Serve with 1 tsp finely chopped spring onion greens sprinkled on top. Enjoy!
