If you’re a fan of momos (and if you haven’t already), then you should definitely check out the ones from Momos & Faloodas in Hulhumale’!
Momos & Faloodas has momos with all types of fillings, including Thai basil chicken, black pepper beef, ginger chicken and even mutton. Their momos also come in three varieties; steamed, pan fried and kurkure, which are breaded and fried momos. They also have a special momos menu that comes in a chilli garlic sauce, available with a myriad of fillings.
We decided to try out their chicken ginger kothey steamed momos and chef’s special chicken kurkure momos – both of which came in a set of six momos each.
Kothey momos are a type of Nepalese/Tibetan pan fried momos, usually longer in shape. However, these chicken ginger kothey momos resembled mini samosas and were steamed. The filling was a bit zingy (from the ginger) but generally mild in flavour and complemented the steamed texture well. When dipped into the spicy chilli paste-like Schezwan sauce, it was entirely delicious and wholly satisfactory.
The chef’s special chicken kurkure momos were little twisted-top pockets of fried momos, filled with a slightly spicy, minced chicken filling. The breaded, fried wrapping gave the momo a different, crunchy texture when bitten into it.
Overall, both the dishes were great and definitely hits the spot for some momo cravings!
