Sambal Sausage Noodles

 

Sambal Sausage Noodles is a quick and flavour-packed dish that’s perfect for busy days. It combines spicy sambal, savoury sausage, and soft noodles for a comforting meal that comes together in minutes.

For our recipe, we have used Fresh Sambal Asli Sauce provided to us by one of our partners, KDM. This sauce is an authentic, spicy Indonesian chilli sauce. It adds a bold, spicy flavour and can also be used in stir-fries, marinades, or as a dipping sauce for snacks.

Ingredients:

For the stir fry sauce:

  • ¼ cup Fresh Sambal Asli Sauce
  • 1 tsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar

 

For the noodles:

  • 160g instant noodles
  • 2 cup hot water

 

For the Sambal Sausage Noodles:

  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 180g thinly cut sausage
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 finely chopped garlic cloves
  • 1 small finely diced onion
  • 1 medium finely diced tomato

 

Instructions:

  1. Firstly, prepare the stir fry sauce. In a small bowl, mix together ¼ cup Fresh Sambal Asli sauce, 1 tsp oyster sauce, 1 tsp dark soy sauce and 1 tsp sugar using a small spoon. Set this aside.
  2. Add 1 tbsp vegetable oil into a large pot and heat it on high heat for 30 seconds. Then add 180g thinly cut (into 1 inch) sausage pieces, ¼ tsp salt and cook and stir using a spatula for 2 minutes or until the sausage pieces are lightly browned in colour.
  3. Now add 2 finely chopped garlic cloves, 1 small finely diced onion and 1 medium sized tomato finely diced. Then stir for 3 minutes on medium high heat.
  4. In the meantime, prepare the noodles. Add 160g instant noodles and 2 cups hot water into a large bowl. Cover the bowl with a lid or a plate. Let the noodles soak for 5 minutes or until soft.
  5. Add the stir fry sauce prepared earlier and stir for 5 minutes on medium low heat. Drain the noodles, add it to the pot and mix it well for 1 minute.
