Garlic Rice | Lonumedhu

Garlic Rice


This is a buttery rice recipe with lots and lots of garlic. It tastes great with dishes like chilli chicken.

Serves: 2


  • 2/3 cup uncooked basmati rice
  • 1 1/3 cup water
  • ¾ tsp. salt (divided)
  • 2 tbsp. chopped garlic
  • 2 green chilli
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • ¼ tsp. ground black pepper



  1. Add rice to a pot and wash twice. Then drain.
  2. Add 1/2 tsp. salt and water to the pot and cook for 7 minutes in high heat. After that cover and cook for 8 minutes in medium low heat. Once cooked remove to a plate.
  3. Finely chop the garlic and slice the green chilies.
  4. Melt butter in pan and add the garlic and stir fry on medium high heat for 3 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Then add the green chilies, ¼ tsp. salt, pepper and stir fry for half a minute.
  6. Then add the cooked rice and mix well for half a minute and that’s it.
