Garlic Bread Pizza | Lonumedhu

Garlic Bread Pizza

These are the perfect combination of garlic bread and pizza. The bread is slathered in a garlicy butter sauce, topped with cheesy mozzarella, and sausage and capsicum.  You can also change up the toppings how you like.

For this recipe we have used the Lactima z Mozzarella cheese slices, provided to us by one of our partners, United Foods Suppliers. These have a light creamy mozzarella taste, perfect for grilled cheese, sandwiches and easy pizzas.

Serving size: 4

Ingredients:

For the garlic butter mixture

  • ¼ cup melted unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves of garlic minced
  • ½ tbsp finely chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp chilli powder
  • 1/8 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/8 tsp ground black pepper

For the sausage topping

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 diced sausages
  • ½ tsp chilli flakes
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp pizza sauce
  • 2 tsp tomato paste

To assemble

  • 2 small hotdog buns (6-inch long, 2-inch wide)
  • 4 slices Lactima z Mozzarella cheese slices
  • 12 slices of capsicum
  • 1 tsp finely chopped parsley

Instructions:

  1. Into a small bowl, add ¼ cup melted unsalted butter, 2 cloves of minced garlic, ½ tbsp minced parsley, 1/8 tsp salt, 1/8 tsp chilli powder, 1/8 tsp dried oregano, and 1/8 tsp ground black pepper. Mix well using a spoon and set aside.
  2. Add 1 tbsp olive oil to a sauce pan and heat it on medium for 30 seconds. Add in 2 finely diced sausages along with ½ tsp chilli flakes and ¼ tsp salt. Sauté for 2-3 minutes using a spatula on medium heat or until the sausage is lightly browned.
  3. Then add in 1 tbsp pizza sauce and 2 tsp tomato paste. Cook for another 2 minutes on low heat, stirring every 30 seconds or so. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. Preheat oven to 190 degrees Celsius for 10 minutes. Take 2 hotdog buns and slice them in half horizontally (we used 6-inch long, 2-inch wide). Place them cut side up on a large baking tray lined with baking paper.
  5. Generously brush the garlic butter on top of each slice, until the top is fully covered. While brushing the butter, make sure to add some garlic bits and parsley on top as well.
  6. Then place a Lactima z Mozzarella cheese slices on each bun slice. You can roughly tear up the cheese slices to fit on the bun.
  7. Then divide the sausage to 4 equal parts and spread evenly on top of the cheese. Lastly, arrange 3 capsicum slices on top each bun.
  8. Place the tray in the oven and bake the breads for 10 minutes, until the cheese melts and the edges of the buns turn to a golden colour. Once baked, serve with some fresh chopped parsley on top.
