Crumpy French Toast | Lonumedhu

Crumpy French Toast

These Crumpy French Toasts are filled with Crumpy Dark Chocolate Spread, coated with an egg and milk mixture, toasted in butter and then coated again in a cinnamon sugar mixture. The result is a delicious treat reminiscent of good old roast paan and French toast but with a gooey dark chocolate center.

We bring this recipe to you in partnership with MHA, the party responsible for getting us all hooked on Crumpy spreads. And while Dark Chocolate is our favourite Crumpy flavour and therefore the one used in this recipe, there are two more Crumpy flavours available: Duo and Hazelnut.

Makes: 8

Ingredients:

  • 8 slices white bread
  • 4 tbsp. Crumpy Dark Chocolate Spread
  • 2 tbsp. grounded cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp. unsalted butter

Instructions:

  1. Cut off the crusts of the bread slices.
  2. Take a slice of bread and spread 1 tbsp. Crumpy Dark Chocolate Spread on one side of the slice. Place another slice of bread on top it, making a Crumpy sandwich. Set the sandwich on a clean plate and repeat until you run out of bread slices.
  3. Slice the sandwiches in half. You can do this diagonally too, although we sliced them straight down the middle.
  4. Mix cinnamon and sugar in a large bowl and set it aside.
  5. Add the eggs and milk to a bowl and whisk until combined.
  6. Melt the butter in a pan.
  7. Quickly dip the first batch of sandwiches (we did two at a time) into the egg mixture; coat them on both sides and drip off any excess mixture. Place them in the pan with the melted butter.
  8. Toast the sandwiches on medium heat until golden on both sides. For us this took around 2 minutes on each side.
  9. Then remove the toasted sandwiches from the pan and place them in the bowl with cinnamon and sugar. Flip the sandwiches over to coat them with the cinnamon sugar mix and remove to a plate.
  10. Repeat steps 7 to 9 until you run out of sandwiches.
