Bread Pudding

Bread Pudding is a yummy dessert made with bread, butter, sugar, milk and eggs. Our version also has chocolate and raisins in it along with a dash of cinnamon.

  • 8 white bread slices (small)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp. melted butter (at room temperature)
  • 6 tbsp. sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 ¼ tsp. ground cinnamon (divided)
  • ¼ tsp. vanilla essence
  • 2 tbsp. raisins
  • ¼ cup dark chocolate chips
  • Icing sugar (optional topping)

  1. Cut the bread into squares. We were able to get 6 squares from every slice.
  2. Add the bread squares to a tray (we used a 7.5 inch by 5.5 inch tray).
  3. Add milk, melted butter, sugar, eggs, 1 tsp. cinnamon and vanilla essence to a bowl and mix to combine.
  4. Pour the mixture over the bread in the tray. Gently press the bread pieces down with your fingers.
  5. Sprinkle ¼ tsp. cinnamon on top of the bread pieces.
  6. Arrange the raisins and chocolate chips on top (if you can’t find chocolate chips, you can chop up a dark chocolate into small chunks and use that in its place).
  7. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius (you’ll need to do this 10 minutes before you start baking). Then place the tray on the middle rack of the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes.
  8. When baked, remove the tray from the oven and sprinkle some icing sugar on top using a sieve and that’s it.
