Banana Custard Trifle


Here we have a recipe for a delicious trifle that combines the creamy flavours of banana and custard with a hint of chocolate.

Making this trifle both really delicious and easy to make is the Eti Pop Kek with Banana which we got from one of our partners Pyramid. These are delightful banana flavoured mini cakes that come with a chocolate coating.


Serves: 4



  • 4 small bananas
  • 2 tbsp. custard powder
  • 360 ml full cream milk (2 small packets)
  • 1/8 tsp. vanilla essence
  • 3 tbsp. sugar
  • 4 Eti Pop Kek with Banana
  • 4 tsp. chocolate chips



  1. Slice the bananas.
  2. In a small bowl add 2 tbsp. custard powder and 2 tbsp. of milk and mix till dissolved.
  3. Add rest of the milk to a pot and heat on medium heat.
  4. When the milk is hot, add the custard mixture, vanilla essence and sugar and stir to combine.
  5. Keep stirring on medium high heat until it reaches a medium consistency (7-8 minutes). Once done, switch off the stove and set it aside.
  6. Place an Eti Pop Kek on a plate and crumble it with a fork. Do this with the rest of the cakes.
  7. Take 4 small glasses and add the crumbled cakes equally into each glass.
  8. Place the banana slices around the edges of the glasses (one small banana per glass).
  9. Then add ¼ cup of custard into each glass.
  10. Top each glass with 1 tsp. chocolate chips. You can serve this straight away or chilled.
