Pinterest predicts food trends for 2021
Pinterest has released their trend report for 2021 and below are what’s expected to be big in the food scene this year.
“Fancy boards are the new avo toast”
According to Pinterest Predicts, we haven’t seen anything yet when it comes to charcuterie creativity as millenials and Gen Z are expected to go way beyond meat, cheese and crackers. Pinterest expects candy spreads, breakfast spreads and taco spreads to go big this year as searches for “breakfast charcuterie boards” increased by five times last year and searches for “dessert charcuterie boards” were up three times.
“Bland is banned”
Things will get hot in 2021 as spicy becomes the new umami and salt and pepper just wouldn’t do anymore. There was a 75% increase in searches for “tomatillo enchilada sauce” over the last year and searches for “jalapeno pepper jelly recipe” doubled.
“Kitchen is the new Michelin”
According to Pinterest, pinners will get fancy in the kitchen by recreating restaurant experiences at home with chef inspired meals and food plating techniques. Searches for “gourmet food plating” went up by 105% last year and “bread art” trends went up by 130%.
