The start of Ramadan is seeing a lot of iftar menus by restaurants and cafés, perfect for big family gatherings and corporate iftars as well.
In tune with last year, Jen Maldives Malé by Shangri-La has also launched their iftar packages. And this time, the offerings center on traditional Middle Eastern and Turkish dishes. The menu features classic dishes like hummus and pita bread, as well as kebab (chicken, beef AND lamb) and fatayer (Lebanese hand pies), along with Maldivian iftar favourites such as mashuni, kulhi mas (spicy fish) and karaa fani (watermelon juice).
The iftar packages also come complete with live cooking stations and a delectable dessert bar. The live stations include a pasta station, plus a “chocolate shawarma” station, as well as freshly made Turkish specialty coffee. The dessert bar includes Middle Eastern dishes such as baklava and different types of Turkish delights amongst other things.
To bring you the authentic tastes of the Middle East, Jen’s chefs have been trained by the chefs at Shangri-La Bosphorus in Istanbul, according to Nina, communications and marketing manager at Jen.
The iftar menu at Jen is MVR 570 per person, with 50 percent off for guests aged 7-12 years and free dining for all guests aged 6 years and below.
“Jen’s Lime restaurant is now open for iftar bookings and this year, we are offering 10-20 percent discounts for group bookings within the first week of Ramadan,” said Nina. “Our banquet hall is also available for corporate bookings, for tharaavees as well as iftar. Catering is also available for dishes from the Jen Lime restaurant’s buffet menu along with discounts in the first week.”
This year, Jen is also holding a lucky draw for their iftar guests; two lucky winners will win a trip to Turkey – in tune with the theme – sponsored by Ace Travels Maldives, with accommodation provided in Shangri-La Bosphorus, Istanbul, one of Shangri-La’s flagship hotels.
So, what are you waiting for? Hurry up and make those bookings before the first week of Ramadan ends. We promise, it is definitely worth it!
