For our Eating Out article this time, we visited the recently opened Cloud Bistro in Hulhumale’.
Located on the beach road, Cloud Bistro is a cosy space with both indoor and outdoor seating. The cool-tined décor gave the space a relaxed, modern feel.
We opted to sit inside at one of the counter booths, which offered a comfortable spot to settle in while taking in the cosy, laid-back atmosphere of the bistro.
The menu was extensive, with a range of breakfast dishes like pancakes and waffles in different flavours, dosa, and various bread options. For the mains, there were sandwich classics, salads as well as rice, noodle and pasta dishes with separate Asian and Indian food sections. There was also a separate section for grilled meat dishes along with different types of drinks and desserts.

Something that we really loved was the fact that they had different allergens specified next to each food, making it easier for people with different dietary restrictions to choose what to eat.
We went for the crispy beef tacos as an appetizer, their grilled prawns as a main (with steamed potato instead of the usual fried potato wedges) and their signature drink called ‘Fiery Guava’. The servers were fast and attentive, and our food arrived about 20 minutes after we placed our order.
Now, on to the review!
First up, let’s start with the Fiery Guava drink; guava juice infused with just the slightest hint of lime and chilli. But what made it “fiery” was the chilli powder and salt rim on the glass which gave each sip an extra kick of heat that balanced out the sweetness of the guava beautifully.

The crispy beef tacos were just that – crisped up flour tortillas filled with juicy beef cubes and melted mozzarella cheese. The savouriness of the beef and the melty cheese went really well with the creamy guacamole they gave us on the side. The flavour was balanced and delicious, and not overly salty or spicy at all.

The grilled prawns came with six large king prawns, a fresh salad, the steamed potatoes, and a lemon herb butter sauce. The prawns were tender and juicy but still had a slight smokiness from the grilling, all of which paired perfectly with the tanginess of the lemon herb butter sauce. The salad and the steamed potatoes paired well with the rich sauce and the smoky meat and kept the whole dish from becoming too heavy on the palate.

Cloud Bistro also had some neat dessert options such as tiramisu (both the classic coffee one and a pistachio-flavoured one), opera cake, burnt Basque cheesecake and cheese kunafa. Unfortunately, we were too full from our meal to try any of them, but they certainly sounded tempting (and a great reason to visit again)!

All in all, we had a lovely meal at Cloud Bistro. From the flavourful tacos and juicy grilled prawns to the refreshing, spicy-sweet Fiery Guava, there was plenty to enjoy. With its varied menu and relaxed setting, it’s definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for a place to enjoy a delicious meal in Hulhumale’.
