Chamoy Fruit Cups from Berrybabe Treats

Category: Love This Dish

Here at Lonumedhu, we’re always on the lookout for exciting new flavours and treats available right here in Male', and this week’s discovery is definitely one for your snack radar – chamoy fruit cups from Berrybabe Treats.

If you’re new to chamoy, here’s the lowdown: it’s a thick, tangy Mexican condiment made from pickled fruits like apricot or plum, then blended with chilli and lime. Drizzled over a medley of fruits, it becomes a fresh and juicy snack with layers of zesty flavours. Add Tajín to the mix – a Mexican chilli-lime salt – and you’ve got the ultimate sweet-spicy-sour combo.

This is exactly what Berrybabe Treats gives us! They have two types of cups; regular – which is a mix of different fruits – and combo, where you can choose any two fruits of your choice. And both are available in medium and large cups!

We went with the medium-sized regular cup. It was delivered freshly-made, and they were kind enough to let us know that it must be eaten immediately, since it contained fresh fruit in salt.

On to the tasting now.

The flavour was insane! The chamoy was generously mixed throughout the fruit cup which had bite-sized pieces of pineapple, honeydew, watermelon, mango, apple, orange, kiwi and even pomegranate in it. Mixed with the citrusy punch of the Tajín seasoning, it had a sweet heat that sneaks up on you, perfectly balanced with the natural freshness and unique texture of the different fruits.

We also loved the attention to texture – each bite is juicy and crunchy, with just the right amount of syrupy chamoy clinging to the fruit. It’s a flavour experience you don’t usually find here in Maldives, and honestly, we’re hooked.

If you're a fan of majaa or sweet and sour snacks, then you should definitely check out these chamoy Tajín fruit cups from Berrybabe Treats – great for an evening snack, beachside treat or something fun to take to a get-together!
